ASTM and Politecnico di Torino: highly educational experiences for future engineers

On 12 and 13 June, the ASTM Group and Politecnico di Torino offered around 60 students on the master’s degree course in Civil Engineering the opportunity to take part in a two-day training workshop, with lectures and technical visits to construction sites. ASTM participated with two Group firms: SINA, design company, and SITAF, concessionaire of the A32 Torino-Bardonecchia motorway and the Frejus tunnel, which will host the event along its stretch.

The project, successfully launched in 2023, is being renewed and in this edition offers the students a first day of theory training held by SITAF and SINA technicians, followed by two guided tours at the A32 construction sites. In particular, the group was taken to the Mompantero Tunnel construction site to appreciate the upgrading works, as required by the adoption of European safety regulations. Afterwards, the group was taken to the Bussoleno Viaduct, where seismic upgrading works are in progress.

The project is part of ASTM’s numerous collaborations with Universities and Research Centres operating in Italy to attract new talents who can grow within the Group, becoming protagonists in projects to build and redevelop the country’s infrastructure system.
